For the uninitiated, a discussion with an Ayurvedic vaidya (physician) may seem weird. You go there with a runny nose and the 'doctor' would seem to be more interested in your bowel movements (motion) and urine. He/she would check your tongue rather than your nose and you wonder where you have landed.

It turns out, we look at you in entirety and not just your leaky nose or the organism causing it. We want to know how your system is dealing with this disease causing factor, what systems are stressed out in this process, and which areas need reinforcement. Sometimes we also ask these questions to assess the general pattern of functioning of your systems- your individual body constitution (prakRti)- this can give an idea about your strength and weakness and thereby warn you about the health conditions you could be prone to. So your pulse, tongue, urine, bowel motions, sweat, diet habits, sleep habits, routine, lifestyle, emotional, social aspects and everything else that can impact you are all important to us. So when you visit RtAyu to meet one of our vaidyas, please make sure you are honest and upfront with whatever is going on with you, however irrelevant it may seem in that particular context.
Consultaions at RtAyu are relaxed, unhurried discussions about you, where you can discuss about your health concerns to a confidant who is willing to give you an undivided attention. It would not be just about your body but you as a whole, trying to understand your physical, psychological and humoral nature, your concerns and what you
look to achieve. At the end, a simple, safe, customized plan is developed which would address your concern from its root. This would be your treatment plan. The treatment plan may be as simple as change in food and lifestyle, nutrition, yoga, intake of Ayrvedic medicines or supplements and physical treatments. Therapies may involve detoxification and nourishing a particular part of the body or the whole through various procedures. Many a times, a small change in diet or lifestyle can fix health problems. Therefore it is important to go into all the details, to identify the root cause and to change it.
